About NRIWallah
NRIWallah is a free site for Non-Resident Indians who run their money in two countries at once. The name combines NRI with wallah, the Hindi word for the person who does or deals in something, as in chaiwallah or dabbawallah. NRIWallah is the one you go to for NRI money questions.
Living abroad raises the same questions whether you left last month or thirty years ago. Which country taxes my Indian rent? What should happen to my savings account in India? How much does it really cost to send money home? When I move back, what follows me? The answers are spread across two tax systems, a dozen government portals and a lot of bank small print. We bring them together in plain English.

NRIWallah is free to use. It earns money from advertising and from partner links: when you open an account or buy a service through some of our links, the provider may pay us a fee. Pages that carry partner links say so, and

You don’t need an account to use the site, and the calculators work without asking for your details. If you choose to send us a question or an enquiry through a form, we keep what you submit so we can reply; our

Keeping pages current
Tax thresholds, exchange rates and bank charges change often. Exchange rates on the site update daily, every guide shows when it was last updated, and each figure is checked when its page is revised.
